Overview
Department of Chemistry is one of the most effective disciplines under the faculty of Science and offers relevant courses to produce highly skilled graduates with theoretical and practical knowledge. Established in 2013, the Department is offering B.Sc. (Hons.) and M. S. degree in chemistry. Department of Chemistry is running its academic and research activities despite the limitations regarding the classroom and laboratory facilities. The department has one undergraduate laboratory equipped with needed instruments. The preparation of a most sophisticated and research-oriented laboratory for graduate students is on progress.
There are 15 qualified faculty members with 3 Associate Professors, 8 Assistant Professors and 4 Lecturers in the department contributing to teaching and research. 11 of them are currently working in the department, and 4 of them are on leave abroad for higher studies. Among the teachers, 7 (seven) hold Ph.D. degree and 3 (three) have post-doctoral research experience from overseas universities.
Since the beginning of the department, 6 batches have completed their B.Sc. (Hons.) and 3 batches completed M.S. Currently there is one PhD student. Chemistry is one of the most research-oriented departments with excellent undergraduate and graduate programs in chemistry with sustainable chemical practices.
