History

The department launched its academic activities and admitted students in the undergraduate program in the same year since the establishment in 2013. In the years following its establishment, the department has made exceptional progress in its teaching and research activities. The department offers an excellent environment for studies in chemistry and provides the opportunity for the students to obtain a high-level education in different areas of the subject with sufficient flexibility to specialize in the area of most significant interest to them. This department is one of the most research-active departments and is renowned for its excellence in teaching and research.

Bablu Hira Mandal (2013-2015) was appointed as the first chairman of the Department of Chemistry. Dr. Md. Ziaul Amin (2015-2016) took over as the chairman of the department after Bablu Hira Mandal had gone on leave for higher studies. After him Dr. Suman Chandra Mohanta took over the responsibility of the office of the chairman, Department of Chemistry (2016-2023). Dr. Md. Korban Ali is currently holding the office of the chairman, Department of Chemistry (2023-current).
